Kenton Wrestling Team Drops Two Matches on Thursday

Kenton High School wrestlers travelled to Wapakoneta to face the Redskins and Liberty Benton in a Tri-meet on Thursday night.

Kenton took on Redskins first, but could only find three victories out of the eleven contested matches.

Senior Carter Bays lead the team with a quick pin over Spencer Hurley at 170 lbs. Aaron Modd also recorded a pin at 126 lbs over Nate Roa. At 138, Anthony Hunt scored a takedown in the third period to seal his win by a 3-1 decision over freshman Reese Schnarre. Senior Branden Bowling wrestling at 195 also scored a late takedown at the end of the third period against Ean Kramer, but Near Fall points were not awarded and he fell just short losing the match 9-10. Kenton lost the meet 15 – 57 to Wapakoneta.

Kenton didn’t fair any better losing 10 – 63 against the Eagles in their second match. Carter Bays once again lead the team with a 18-5 Major Decision over Gavin Gillig at 170 lbs. Logan Brown recorded at 11-5 Decision win over Greg Musselman at 132 and Anthony Hunt won by a 4-1 Decision over Luke Broerman at 138.

Wildcats will be back in action this weekend at Allen East to face Columbus Grove, Fremont Ross, Van Buren and Woodmore.
