OhioHealth Marion General Hospital plans to open its three-story, sixty-thousand-square-foot addition to patients Tuesday.

In addition to 48 total rooms–24 each in Medical/Surgical and Intermediate units–designed to maximize patient privacy and staff workflow, the expansion includes a new main entrance for the hospital, and serves as the centerpiece of a series of renovations to OhioHealth facilities in Marion.

Preceding work on the east wing of Marion General Hospital were renovations to the Endoscopy Unit and Green Lobby of the Marion Medical Campus, and scheduled for completion later this year is work on The Lab and a new maternity-care unit at Marion General.

Marion General Hospital President Dr. Curt Gingrich said the work in Marion helps residents of Marion, Hardin, and Wyandot Counties by providing them with greater local access to expert private medical care.

Cannon Designs of Chicago based their work at Marion General Hospital on well-received innovations at Elmhurst Memorial and Dublin Methodist Hospitals, among others. Hill International managed the project, with the work being conducted by Gilbane Construction and M Engineering.
