McCutchenville Man Killed in Wyandot County Crash

A crash in Wyandot County Thursday evening claimed the life of a McCutchenville man.

According to a release from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 33 year old Daniel Smalley was operating a motorcycle west on Perry Street in McCutchenville, and he failed to stop for a stop sign at Clay Street.

His motorcycle collided with a northbound passenger bus being driven by 77 year old Sara Wax, of Tiffin.

Smalley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wax and the 20 passengers on the bus were not injured.

Smalley was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol are unknown at this time. Next-of-kin have been notified.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Sycamore Fire Department and EMS, Carey EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation and Hensley’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
