The rest areas located on US 23 in Marion County and US 33 in Union County will close tomorrow so that the buildings can be demolished and replaced with new facilities.
The current facilities are being replaced with a lodge-style building and will feature inside vending and Ohio tourism information.
Demolition of the current buildings is expected to take place over the winter months, and construction of the new facilities will follow.
That is in addition to the rest areas on U.S. 23 in Wyandot County which are set to close tomorrow for demolition and replacement.
That project was announced earlier by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The new facilities in Wyandot County are expected to open in 2025.
