COLUMBUS – Earlier this month, the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined forces with members of the 6-State Trooper Project to reduce unsafe driving behaviors along Interstate 70. The high-visibility campaign ran from Friday, October 9, through Sunday, October 11, and included the Indiana State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

During the enforcement, Ohio troopers issued 573 speed citations, 27 safety belt violation citations and made 11 impaired driving arrests. In total, among the three states participating in the effort, 821 citations were issued for speeding, 37 citations for safety belt violations and 25 impaired driving arrests were made.

The Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police and West Virginia State Police did not participate due to Interstate 70 being outside their jurisdictions.

The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and information sharing.
