The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning about computer scams recently.
If you receive a pop-up notification on your computer stating that Microsoft has locked your computer due to viruses, spyware and more, that is a scam.
You should not call the number listed on the fake website.
If you do, the scammer will tell you they can repair your PC hoping that you will follow their steps to allow them remote access to your computer along with charging a fee.
Once logged into your computer, they will attempt to obtain personal information, banking information, and any other information they can use to exploit or blackmail you.
