The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving calls this week from residents reporting phone scams.

Callers are impersonating representatives, detectives, and deputies from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

They are calling people and falsely claiming there’s a legal issue that you can solve with an immediate payment over the phone.

Residents are being reminded that this is a scam.

No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever call you demanding immediate payment for fines or fees over the phone.

If you get a call like this, hang up immediately.

Do not provide any personal or financial information, and do not attempt to make a payment.
