The Bellefontaine Police Department‘s Criminal Patrol Unit and K9 Unit made a significant arrest after stopping a silver Chevy Traverse in the 700 block of North Main Street earlier this week.

The two occupants of the vehicle, identified as 40-year-old Andrew Hughes, of Bellefontaine, and 35-year-old Brittnay Hartline, of Russells Point, were wanted by the Adult Parole Authority due to outstanding arrest warrants connected to a lengthy drug trafficking investigation.

The investigation led to the discovery that the pair allegedly had been making regular trips to source cities to acquire large quantities of narcotics, which they then transported back to Logan County for distribution.

Following the arrest of Hughes and Hartline, K9 Pyro was deployed to conduct a narcotics sniff on the vehicle and gave a positive alert to narcotic odor and a probable cause search was completed.

During the search of the vehicle, officers located approximately 21 grams of cocaine, 95 grams of methamphetamine, and 23 units of LSD, as well as drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking and sales.
