Enbridge Gas customers can manage winter heating bills with payment plans; eligible customers can tap into company assistance funds until June 30

CLEVELAND– As the weather warms, Enbridge Gas Ohio is connecting customers who have past due winter heating balances to payment plans and assistance programs to keep them in service.

Customers can go to enbridgegas.com/ohio/billing/billing-options-and-assistance to view their options 24/7. If customers are facing disconnection, they’re urged to call Enbridge Gas Ohio immediately at, 1-800-362-7557 to inquire about payment plans and energy assistance programs.(Hearing-impaired customers with Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf can call 711.)

Enbridge Gas Ohio billing options and assistance

The company offers short-term payment extensions and long-term payment plans to help residential and commercial customers manage their balances. We also offer energy assistance through our company-sponsored Energy Share program.

Budget billing and payment arrangements: Enbridge Gas offers Budget Billing which allows customers to avoid seasonal fluctuations and pay a fixed budget amount each month, based on annual gas usage. We also offer a Budget Plus Plan, a Current Plus Plan, a One-Ninth Plan, a One-Third Plan and Short-Term Extensions. Extended payment plans may include installments on past due balances, plus a calculated budgeted amount or your current usage.


EnergyShare:
Funds from the company’s EnergyShare program are available to eligible families until June 30 or until funds run out. EnergyShare pays energy bills when customers have exhausted all other forms of assistance.

Customers with unpaid balances should contact the local Salvation Army offices for an application. (Applicants do not need to register with the HEAP office first.)

To qualify for a one-time EnergyShare assistance payment, an Enbridge Gas Ohio customer must have:

  • A demonstrated need for assistance
  • Received a shutoff notice or the service has already been disconnected; and
  • Applicants aged 60 or older DO NOT have to have a disconnection notice to seek assistance but MUST demonstrate need for assistance

Income-eligible assistance programs

Customers who meet income requirements can apply for programs with one application at energyhelp.ohio.gov or by calling the Ohio Development Services Agency at, 1-800-282-0880. Hearing-impaired customers with Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf can call 711.

Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP Plus): To qualify, a customer’s yearly gross household income must be at or below 175% of federal poverty guidelines. Under PIPP Plus, participating customers may maintain their natural gas service by paying 5% of their total gross monthly household income, or $10, whichever is greater.

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP): Provides a one-time heating bill creditduring the winter heating season.HEAP is available to customers whose yearly grosshousehold income is at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines.

The Winter Crisis Program (WCP): Provides a one-time grant to help avoid a shutoff or to restore service once between November 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. Local community action agencies can assist with emergency payments to help avoid disconnection. Dial 2-1-1 or visit 211oh.org/how-we-help/services for community resources.

Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP): A federally funded program that provides grants for home weatherization projects to customers whose incomes are at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
