From 4-H to Ohio State Leadership: Kenton Native Earns CFAES Alumni Honor

A Kenton native was among five individuals to receive Alumni Awards from the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Alumni Society Board.

Bruce McPheron became an entomologist at the age of 11 after a chance encounter with insect displays at the Union County Fair that led to entomology projects in Ohio 4-H, and the rest is history.

McPheron has led a remarkable career in research and higher education, serving as dean of CFAES and later as Ohio State’s executive vice president and provost.

He has been honored as an elected fellow of both the Entomological Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his contributions to science and higher education.
