The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office served seven search warrants in Sandusky, Wood and Seneca Counties on Wednesday.

According to a release, the warrants were the culmination of an investigation into numerous trailers, campers and scrap metal thefts in Allen, Hancock, Seneca and Wood Counties.

The investigation began in September of 2024 with the theft of trailers in Hancock County.

Through the investigation, it was discovered that the trailer thefts were only some of the crimes being committed by a larger group of individuals.

Searches of the seven locations yielded a stolen Bobcat Skid Steer, a vehicle bearing a stolen license plate, suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, credit card skimmer device, electronic devices and ledgers.

The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case at the conclusion of the investigation.
