The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam that started over the weekend.

Hardin County Central Dispatch has received calls Saturday morning reporting that an individual claiming to be a law enforcement officer, who is known to the office, was contacting residents stating that the call recipient has multiple warrants, and that they can be paid off over the phone.

Residents are being reminded that Hardin County law enforcement will not make such calls.

Anyone receiving these types of calls should not offer information or payment, but you should simply hang up.

Any questions may be directed to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office at 419-673-1268.
