Hardin Northern Third Graders Dig into Paleontology with Fossil-Making Project

Third grade students at Hardin Northern embarked on an exciting journey into the world of paleontology this week by creating their own mold and cast fossils.

Through hands-on learning, students gained a deeper understanding of how fossils are formed and what they tell us about ancient life.

This activity allowed students to visualize the process of fossilization, demonstrating how organisms can leave behind impressions in sediment that later harden into rock.

By creating both molds and casts, students experienced firsthand how paleontologists study fossils to reconstruct the shapes and forms of ancient creatures and plants.
