Severe weather tipped over several train cars early Thursday morning in Hancock County’s Washington Township.

According to a release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to State Route 613 and Township Road 261 in reference to a possible train derailment.

The train was stationary when the containers tipped over due to the high winds.

The train consisted of intermodal container cars, and no hazardous materials were onboard at the time of the incident.

The railroad crossings in that area are expected to be closed for a considerable time as a CSX crew works to clear the tracks.

Assisting at the scene were the Washington Township Fire Department and CSX Transportation.

The scene is contained and there are no hazards to the public, and there were no injuries.
