Kenton City Council conducted its 11th Regular Session Monday evening.

A push is underway to bring the charter government question back to the ballot, giving residents another chance to decide.

Brian Hattery spoke on behalf of the People’s Project.

The ballot issue committee, who are a mix of citizens who want to see Kenton, “improve, get better, and to succeed for every citizen.”

He said the comittee believes that part of that is the ability or beig able to have the city create its own structure of government, instead of the statutory city that we have now that’s dictated by state statutes.

To that end, the committee requested that council draft and pass legislation to allow the charter initiative to happen one more time .

Fire Chief Bruce Donnelly reported that his department is preparing to bring in a new fire truck later this month.

Council also reviewed zoning changes that could help open the door for future development.

Safety Service Director Cindy Murray provided updates on water pressure issues and street work.
