The Kenton City Schools Board of Education conducted its May meeting Monday meeting.

Treasurer Jill Smith presented the five -year forecast by noting the district is not deficit spending, “That means we do not have to dip into our reserves. Our reserves at this point from last year are 10.5 million dollars, which is carried into this year. Our revenues are coming in at 24.4 million and our expenses are coming in almost at 23, so that means 1.5 million,  we are spending of our own and not into our reserves.”

The Board also hired a new Head Boys Basketball Coach.

A supplemental contract was approved for Christiaan Williams.

Board Member Rodney Hensel said he was the assistant coach last season, “We just felt he was the strongest candidate we had. He’s already here. He seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. He’s a younger guy, so I just want to point out that we did interview people, and we did put it out, posted it and that’s who we ended up with, so we’re happy that he was able to take that job.”

A contract for Drew Hobensack was also approved for Assistant Boys Basketball Coach.

Numerous other routine personnel matters were also taken care of last evening.

The next meeting will be held on June 17.
