The School Resource Officer at the Kenton Elementary School was reassigned recently.
Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser said Officer Jarrod Bowman was put on road patrol and a new officer has replaced him on a temporary basis.
A school surveillance camera from February of this year has surfaced showing Bowman talking with others in the cafeteria of the school during lunch time.
At one point, he can be seen going to a student, grabbing his sweatshirt from behind and directing him to another seat before following him out of the cafeteria.
Chief Musser said no formal complaint was filed until he met with the student’s father about a week ago.
Officer Bowman has since met with the parents as well as school administrators and has admitted his actions were a little aggressive.
In the best interest of everyone involved, Chief Musser said the decision to remove Bowman from the school was made.
WKTN reached out to Kenton School Superintendent Chad Thrush, and he had no comment on the situation.
The new SRO will serve in that position until the end of the school year.
A decision on a permanent officer to serve the school in that position will be made after that.
