Kenton Mayor Lynn Webb presented a State of the City address Tuesday at the Kenton Church of the Nazarene.

The mayor jump started the conversation with an update on the downtown reconstruction project.

She said the biggest reason for the project was the necessity to replace the city’s aging infrastructure, “This is 90% underground what we’re doing. It’s basically all the original infrastructure is being replaced. So, it started probably 8 or 9 years ago. Phase One was from down at the tracks at the river. It came up to Wendy’s, and we have replaced that infrastructure, so that groundbreaking happened right when we came in, and then our job was to keep the momentum going.

And while progress has been made, there is still a way to go before completion, “I wish I could say it’s going to be done next week, but in all reality with the roundabout, we’re looking at 2028, 2029 to where we’re all back to somewhat normal, so we’re in it for quite a long time.”
