Local native son, Willi Wolfschmidt, has three paintings that have been selected to be in the prestigious Slotin Auction that will be held April 26-27, 2025, in the Self-Taught Masterpiece Sale. All bidding for this event is online or by phone.

Wolfschmidt was born in Kenton, Ohio in 1936, and went on to tour the world. What makes this so special, is this is the first time the 88-year old artist has sold any of his creations.

Willi describes his work as an allegorical, which uses symbols and characters to represent a deeper idea, often with a moral or meaning beyond the literal story. His painting which he refers to as Fantasy Expressionism delights the young and old alike.

Wolfschmidt has graciously donated a wide variety of his life’s work to the Hardin County Historical Museums, in Kenton, Ohio. The museum has much of his permanent collection. The museum came to the realization that some of his paintings needed to be sold, rather than put in storage. Mr. Wolfschmidt whole heartedly agreed.

The masterpieces that have been created with vivid bold colors with an imagination that is pure fantasy. Many people have offered ideas on how they think he achieves his subject matters.  His work comes from his conscious mind as he images his creations in his mind’s eye, then does a quick pencil sketch, so he will not forget his inspiration for future projects.

The three pieces are: #556 The Women Anatomical; #557 Robot Take Over; #558 Man Eaters.

All pieces are signed, original and one-of-kind pieces.

Steve Slotin’s auction business is 33 years old. The sale is an online event that will be held April 26 and 27.
