The Kenton Police Department is alerting residents to a recent uptick in thefts targeting Kia vehicles manufactured between 2011 and 2021, specifically models without push-button start systems.

These vehicles may have a vulnerability that makes them easier to steal.

To reduce the risk, police recommend using a steering wheel lock, parking in well-lit or secure areas, avoiding leaving valuables in the car, and installing a GPS tracker or alarm system.

If possible, park another vehicle behind your Kia to block it in.

Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Kenton Police Department at 419-673-0771.
