A Marion man recently pleaded guilty to Workers’ Compensation fraud and paid restitution of nearly $16,000.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation investigated 43-year-old Eric Rice and found that he was knowingly and with fraudulent intent working as a self-employed electrician while collecting BWC benefits to which he was not entitled.

Earlier this month, Rice pleaded guilty to one count of Workers’ Compensation Fraud, and the judge ordered the defendant to one day in jail, time served.

The defendant had previously paid the restitution amount of just over $15,700 in full.
