The Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 has concluded the public involvement process for three proposed roundabouts and selected the layouts for the detailed design phase.
All three intersections, including one at the intersection of State Routes 67 and 235 in Hardin County’s Roundhead Township, have received funding through Ohio’s Highway Safety Improvement Program to enhance safety.
The two other projects will be in Van Wert and Defiance Counties.
Chris Hughes, ODOT District 1 deputy director, said that where they have built roundabouts in Allen and Van Wert counties, there have been zero fatal crashes, injury crashes are down 72% and crashes overall are down 36%.

The single-lane roundabout in Hardin County is designed to deliver the best safety benefit at a lower construction cost.
