Ohio State Highway Patrol Involved in 6-State Trooper Project to Focus on Safety Belt Enforcement

The Ohio State Highway Patrol joined forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project to focus on safety belt enforcement.

During the project, 3,459 people in Ohio were issued citations for safety belt violations.

Also, 97 people received child safety seat citations.

Along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the high-visibility enforcement effort included State Police from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The initiative began on Friday, May 20 and continued through Monday, May 27.

Collectively, 8,159 people were issued safety belt citations and 415 people received child safety seat violations during the multi-state enforcement effort.
