A combination of high winds and an accident involving two semis that damaged a power pole in the 10,000 block of US 68 north of Kenton caused  power and internet outages during the overnight and morning hours.

Wind gusts reached up to 50 miles an hour at times resulting in downed lines and tree branches around the area.

Due to the outage, the Kenton City School District was on a two-hour delay today.

68 in the area of the accident was closed and was re-opened at just before 9:30am.

Power has been restored to most residents, but scattered outages persist.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists to watch out for utility crews on US 68 as they are working to repair the power and internet connections.

Details on the accident have not been released at this time.
