“The device has been safely removed by the Dayton Bomb Squad who will dispose of the object. All streets are reopened and all citizens can resume normal operations.”
Update: 12:10pm (9/15/25)* 11:53 am – from Sidney Safety Services:
“Out of an abundance of caution, emergency crews have requested additional specialized resources to safely remove a potential explosive device found in a residential structure. At this time, the device appears to be stable, and there is no immediate danger to the public. We have asked certain people to shelter in place, there are no evacuations.
As a safety measure, the intersection of N. West Avenue and Pike Street will remain closed until the device has been carefully removed. Crews are working methodically to ensure the situation is handled with the highest level of safety.
We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”
09/15/25: The Shelby County Emergency Management Agency reports an active emergency at the intersection of Pike and North West in Sidney. Sidney Police and Fire Departments are on site.
The intersection will remain closed until the scene is cleared. Residents and motorists are urged to avoid the area until further notice.
