Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart spoke to Kenton Rotary recently about the upcoming Sheriff’s Office levy.

The original operation levy first appeared on the ballot in 2010, and it supplies nearly a quarter of the operating dollars for the Sheriff’s Office.

It is a renewal levy and will cost taxpayers $25 for every $100,000 in property value, and it is based on older valuations.

The Sheriff said he has always tried to be frugal while maintaining high standards in training for his officers and staff.

He noted his books are open for review at any time and hopes the people of Hardin County have gotten great value for their dollars in the past.

With the voters help, Sheriff Everhart said his office will be able to continue to operate at this high standard, but without this support services would have to be reduced.
