Beth Wetherill, Silver Sneaker Fitness Instructor at the Hardin County Family YMCA, spoke about the programming available at the Hardin County YMCA during a recent Rotary Meeting.

Wetherill mentioned that For active adults, there are many programs designed to keep you moving, including group fitness classes, aquacize, and Silver Sneakers Signature classes. Court sports such as racquetball and pickleball are also offered.

Beth explained that many insurance providers offer Silver Sneakers or a similar health and fitness program designed for people with Medicare. It is part of the supplemental insurance chosen and can provide discounts, reimbursements, and even free memberships to assist you on your health journey. If you are 65 or older, simply call the YMCA and ask them to check your eligibility.

Beth also spoke about the many youth programs available. The Y offers swim lessons, School Day Out programming, which allows for a place for kids to be on scheduled days off (KCS scheduled days) as well as Snow Days Out at the Y which provides a safe place for youth to come when schools gets cancelled.

Beth cautioned that these programs can fill quickly, so sign up early.
