Sylvania Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on US 224 in Hancock County

A Sylvania, Ohio man was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle Sunday afternoon in Hancock County.

According to a release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Justin Eckhart was riding his motorcycle east US 224, when he attempted to pass multiple vehicles.

One of the vehicles, which was being operated by 77-year-old Mary Taylor, of Fostoria, was in the process of turning left onto Township Road 259.

The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, and Eckhart was ejected.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taylor and a passenger in her vehicle, 79-year-old David Taylor, were both treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
