The Ohio Department of Agriculture will be aerially spraying this summer to stop the spread of the spongy moth caterpillar.

The spongy moth is a significant invasive forest pest that has moved west into Ohio from Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Each egg mass that a female lays contains between 500 to 1,000 individual eggs, and once hatched they are able to feed on the leaves of over 300 different tree and shrub species.

Treatments will be applied in Hardin County and Auglaize and Logan counties in our region.
