Upper Sandusky Schools were closed today due to a bomb threat.

Superintendent Eric Landversicht said that a staff member received the anonymous bomb threat early this morning.

Law enforcement was notified immediately, and the school’s emergency plan was put into place.

To make sure every building was safe, the decision was made to close school so that law-enforcement could check every single building to ensure that no danger existed. The school officials worked closely with the Upper Sandusky Police Department as they investigated the incident.

The Superintendent added that they take these types of situations very seriously, and the safety of their students, staff and community is the priority.

The superintendent provided an additional update a few hours later, stating that after a thorough investigation by the Upper Sandusky Police Department, in conjunction with the Allen County Bomb Squad, it was determined that the threat was a hoax.

All buildings have been checked by law-enforcement and are deemed safe.

He also gave sincere thanks to law-enforcement partners for their quick response and leadership regarding the incident and that safety will always be their number one priority.
