of Kenton
A private family service for Betty Sue Purcell will be held at a later date at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Marion General Hospital. She was born on January 19, 1945, in Kenton to the late Harold L. and Alice LaVon (Stansbery) Purcell.
Surviving are 7 siblings, Charlotte Wallick, Barbara (Duane) Spencer, Gerald (Cheryl) Purcell, Dale (Kathy) Purcell, Don (Deb) Purcell, Bruce (Nancy) Purcell, LeeAnn (Steve) Willson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Purcell.
Betty was a 1963 graduate of Kenton High School. While in school she started working for Rexall and Hill Drug Pharmacies as a cashier. After high school she continued her career in Columbus and Findlay for Rite Aid where she retired after many years of service.
Being a sister to 5 brothers, Betty had a love for sports, especially watching the Cleveland Guardians. She also enjoyed cooking and collecting cookbooks for new recipes. Most of all Betty enjoyed nothing more than reminiscing and telling stories about her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s honor may be made to the France Lake Veteran Fishing Permit Fund via the funeral home.
