Bonnie Mae Frater, 95 of Kenton passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Vancrest of Ada. She was born in Logan County on January 22, 1928 to the late Paul William and Gertrude Mae (Sloan) Dickinson. Bonnie married Richard C. “Dick” Frater on January 19, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1983. Surviving are two daughters; Pam (Jerry) Layman of Kenton, Paula (Charles) Engelhardt of Uniontown, Ohio and a brother, Paul (Millie) Dickinson of Arlington. Mrs. Frater is also survived by four grandchildren; Melissa (Jocelyn) Layman, Mark (Kristen) Layman, Lucas (Meg) Engelhardt and Tiffany (Alex) Hoopes and ten great-grandchildren; Holden Weeda Layman , Ava and Emma Layman, Isaac, Alan, Owen and Evelyn Engelhardt; Lillian, Carter and Violet Hoopes and a sister-in-law, Sue Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold “Pete” Dickinson. She was a 1946 graduate of Kenton High School and was a member of Epworth Community Church. Bonnie was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother who provided a warm and loving home for her family. She was especially proud of her pride and joy, her great-grandchildren whom she always thought she would never live to see. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Kenton and from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the funeral home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bonnie to the S.O.U.P. Kitchen, 340 N. Main St, Kenton, OH 43326 or Epworth Community Church.
