Carolyn I Galligher

Carolyn I. Galligher, age 82, of Forest, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Serenity Spring Senior Living in Arlington on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:55 p.m.

She was born on March 25, 1944, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Gale E. and Geneva E. (Jackson) Poling. On February 25, 1977, she married Patrick W. Galligher, who survives.

Also surviving are her son, Philip (Ayako) Shulaw of Bluffton; her daughter, Priscilla Shulaw of Kenton; her cherished granddaughter, Victoria Shulaw; and her sister, Ruth Ann Poling.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lois Jury and Martha Wigle.

Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of Forest High School. She began her career with United Appraisal before working for Appraisal Research in Findlay. She later provided bookkeeping services for My Place in Carey and for Countryside Joan Dean Moening. Carolyn concluded her career with the Wyandot County Auditor’s Office in Upper Sandusky, where she faithfully served for 34 years before retiring.

A devoted member of Patterson United Methodist Church, Carolyn was actively involved in the Women’s Society and served on the Pastor-Parish Relations (PPR) Committee, as chairman of the church board, and volunteered with the church’s community meals. She also shared her love of music as a member of the Lafayette Clair Community Choir.

Carolyn found joy in collecting chickens and Longaberger baskets, volunteering at Election Day dinners, and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, warm spirit, and the heartfelt hugs she so generously shared with everyone she met.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clark Shields Funeral Home. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Christopher Thacker will officiate. Burial will follow at Patterson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Patterson United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Clark Shields Funeral Home, 301 S. Patterson St., Forest, OH 45843.
