Obituary for Carolyn M. Swinehart

Carolyn Mae Swinehart, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 17 at 2:10pm at Ohio Living Rockynol Retirement Community in Akron, Ohio.

Carolyn was born in Carey, Ohio on October 16, 1936, to the late Howard and Celestia (Clinger) Taylor. Carolyn grew up in a large family and was one of fourteen siblings – she lived in Wyandot County for 87 years before health issues required her moving closer to her daughter the last year or so. Carolyn is known by her family as a sweet, reflective soul who was loving, loyal, wise, witty, hard working, resilient and modest. She lived a full, yet simple life, loved to read, travel, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Debra K. Hagarty (James), Bath, Ohio and her son, Daniel (Casaundra) Swinehart, Tipp City, Ohio along with her five grandsons, Ryan Hagarty (Cuyahoga Falls), Adam Hagarty (Columbus), Noah Swinehart (Fairborn), Ethan and Aiden Swinehart (Tipp City).

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Eugene A. Swinehart. She is also preceded in death by her four brothers, Russell (Ruth), Ray, Paul and Donald (Helen) Taylor and six sisters, Gladys Beck, Joan Taylor, Evelyn White, Jane Beidelschies, Margaret Hewett, Jeanette Tooley and brothers in law Jim Beidelschies, Nelson Hewett, Richard Reinhart, Lyn Walter and Guy Tooley. Carolyn is survived by two sisters Phyllis Walter of Upper Sandusky, Jean Reinhart of Carey, and her youngest brother Junior (Sharon) Taylor of Ridgeway, Ohio.

Carolyn retired in 2011 from Fairhaven Retirement Community having worked there for 38 years.

A funeral service will be held at Bringman Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 1pm. Calling hours will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the funeral home interment will be at the Nevada Cemetery following the funeral service.
