Catherine “Katie” Marie (Curtis) Shick, age 99 of Kenton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Kenton, OH. She was born August 13, 1925, to Jesse and Mildred (Cooper) Curtis and they preceded her in death. She married Calvin Marion Shick February 9, 1946, and he preceded her in death August 27, 2007.

Left to cherish her memory include sons: Mark (Judy) Shick of Rawson, Kim (Robin) Shick of Belle Center; daughter: Jane (Michael) Major of Urbana; sisters: Betty Wickline, Shirley (Bruce) McIntosh; grandchildren: Ann Catherine (Fred) Urbanek, Sarah (Chad) Mackert, Stephen (Hailey) Major, David (Lauren) Major, Stephanie (Ben) Price, Robyn (Brian) Wilson, Elizabeth (Travis) Sands, Amanda (Jon) Pyzoha, Eric Shick; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers Neil (Mary) Curtis, Jesse (Gretchen) Curtis Jr., infant Larry Curtis; brother-in-law: Edward Wickline; sister Dorothy (Donald) Kinnear; 1 grandson, Eric Shick.

Catherine was a graduate of Kenton High School class of 1942. She worked at Nourse’s Department Store in Kenton after high school during WWII for 5 years until her marriage to Calvin in 1946. She was heavily involved with the work around their farm, hauling grain, driving a hay baler, and many other things involved with farming. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church including the church’s Women’s Society. She was also involved with the Hardin County Fairgrounds activities and a lifelong member of the McDonald Grange, a member of the Kenton Elks #157, Kenton Square Dance Club, a long time Farm Bureau member, and assisted with the election board. Catherine enjoyed hosting card clubs with her friends, loved gardening and animals, and loved spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, in Kenton, with Pastor John Foster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm on Thursday prior to the service with interment to follow at McDonald Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Fair Foundation: checks written to Hardin Community Foundation/Fair Fund, or to the Mt.
