David J. Trusty, age 77, of Alger, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 19, 1944, in Lackey, Kentucky to the late Alvin and Goldia (Conley) Trusty. On April 7, 1964, David married Mary Standifer and she survives in Alger.
Also surviving are their three sons: Alvin (Anjie) Trusty of Findlay, David “Bo” (Tonya) Trusty of Sycamore, and Troy (Heather) Trusty of Waynesville, MO; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Lola (Sterling) Gibson of Georgetown, KY.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Karen Biederman, and Judy Sorrell.
David retired from Wilson Sporting Goods, Ada, where he was a lockstitch operator. David served as the Pastor for the McGuffey Freewill Baptist Church for approximately twenty-five years. He did his first sermon in January of 1967, and he was ordained on April 12, 1968. David served on the Presbytery Board and Ordaining Council since 1971. He was the first Moderator of the North and Western Conference of the Freewill Baptist and served on the Ohio State Association Executive Board for many years. David was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served from 1962-1966.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Rev. Edwin Hays, and Pastor Don Webb officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the McGuffey Freewill Baptist Church for the Freewill Baptist Family Ministries.
