Donald “Donnie” Dodds, 85, of Kenton, died March 18, at Trustwell Blanchard Place. He was born to Russell and Myrtle M. Risner, on January 23, 1941, in Kenton, OH.  On September 30, 1961, he married Virginia “Ginger” Woods.

Donald is survived by his daughters; Deanne Vermillion, and Abbey Sprang, grandchildren; Rebecca Dodds, Brittany Hites, Spencer (Lauren) Vermillion, Samera Vermillion, Braden Vermillion, Jude Sprang, and Finnegan Sprang, great-grandchildren; Addisyn Hites, Thayer Hites and Jaxyn Hites, and Silas Lawrence and Legend Lawrence, brother; Gary Dodds and sisters; Karen (Bob) Wilcox, and Jacqueline Ireland..

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ginger, son; David Dodds and sister-in-law; Leanna Dodds.

Donald was a 1959 graduate of Kenton High School and a life-long resident of Kenton. He was a US Postal Carrier for 38 years, delivering to the same families and residents for the entirety. Once retired, he worked another number of years for the Memorial Park Golf Course, in groundskeeping. In his younger years, he also served in the Ohio National Guard.

Donnie loved his community and his family dearly. He was always quick with a wink, joke or jab and lived a full and joyful life. Donnie’s family is very appreciative of the love and support shown in the last several years. Dementia is a difficult diagnosis and so many wonderful people have been there for them in times of need. It truly takes a village.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 12-2 and 5-7, at Schindlewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, 200 E. Columbus St, Kenton, OH. A private inurnment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tranquility Hospice at tranquility-hospice.com/donate and Dementia Research at dementiasociety.org/donate.

Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dodds family.
