Obituary for Donald Edward Kraft

Donald Edward Kraft was born in Kenton, Ohio on February 6, 1944, to the late John Adam and Phoebe (Wagner) Kraft. He died on July 18, 2026. On December 28th, 1966, he married Jane Cole in Sault Ste. Marie, MI and they were happily married for nearly 60 years. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Irene Kraft; special aunt Ruth (Kraft) Chamberlain; and siblings Marjorie Allen, Jane Ralston, Norma Breslin and Stella Hill.

Donald’s survivors include his wife Margaret Jane Kraft; daughter Linda Kraft Woods; son John Wallace Kraft; grandchildren Jane and Phoebe Woods, Mary and John Foster Kraft; and fosterdaughter Carrie Puente.

Donald graduated from McGuffey High School in 1962 and earned his BS in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University where he met his wife. Donald served in the Ohio Army National Guard. A lifelong farmer, he farmed the muck and high ground near Foraker until he was no longer physically able.

Don started fishing and hunting at a young age with his father, uncles, friends, and neighbors. He took many hunting trips to Eastern Ohio and annual fishing trips to destinations in Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and others. Bass fishing was his lifelong passion and hobby. He was a founding member of the Trophy BassMasters in Kenton, and enjoyed many successful years of tournament fishing with the Ohio Bass Federation and on other tournament circuits.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to The Connected Equestrian, Bridge Hospice, or the Hardin County Dog Shelter. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2026 at 4 P.M. at Kenton Elks Club.
