Obituary for Doris Marie (Brenneman) Shaffer

Doris Marie (Brenneman) Shaffer (86) of Kenton, died Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Doris was born June 7, 1939, to Abram and Corinna Brenneman. She grew up around Spencerville, graduated from Lima Senior High School, and devotedly attended the Church of God.

She worked in Central Supply at Lima Memorial Hospital in her 20s, was a caregiver throughout her 50s, and in between raised four kids.

Doris loved hanging out with her daddy on the farm when she was little. She cherished her days in the youth group and her lifelong friends from those early years. She loved God, the Church of God, Springfield Campmeeting, gospel music, the Gaither Vocal Band, Julian Brock, and Hallmark Christmas movies. She loved her apartment community and the many friends she has there. She loved bright colored flowers, sweets, and butterflies. She crocheted many a blanket and always gave them away. She was social, kind, caring, crafty, …and ornery when she wanted to be.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marilyn Harpster.

She is survived by her children, Richard Lawson, Larry (Lars) Lawson, Brian Lawson, and Lisa (Shaffer) Bohr, her son-in-law Tim Bohr, her grandchildren Kennedy Bohr and Parker Bohr, her brother-in-law Norman Harpster, and her nieces Kathy Harpster, Jane Harpster, Peggy Harpster, and Cheryl Lawson.

Visitation for Doris will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Kenton where a funeral service will begin at the conclusion of visitation at 1:00 PM.

Burial will follow in Roundhead Cemetery. Pastor Wade Melton will officiate.
