Obituary for Ella Marlene “Spivey” Vaughn

Ella Marlene “Spivey” Vaughn, of Kenton, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2026. She was born on August 17, 1949 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Eugene and Marcella “Brown” Spivey. She was married to Wayne T. Vaughn, and he proceeded her in death.

She is survived by her children; Shawn (Leona) Spivey of Piqua, OH, Kevin (Corrina) Vaughn of Racine, WI, Keith (Michelle) Vaughn of St. Louis, MO Marlette Vaughn of Racine, WI, and Wayne (Laura) Vaughn Jr. of Indianapolis, IN.

She is also survived by her 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, her Love for them all was immense. She is also survived by her sisters, Gail “Buddy” Bailey, Donna Spivey, and Lou Spivey all of Kenton and one brother, Gerald (John) Belman-Spivey of Royal Oak, MI. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her two sisters Suzy Florence Brown and Linda Spivey.

Marlene was a proud member of Payne Chapel AME Church for most of her life. She was an avid singer with her family and church family whom she loved very much. Marlene retired from Imperial Bondware, “The Cup” after 20 years and then proceeded to work at Goodwill and the Kmart in Kenton for many more years.

For all that knew Marlene, she was a true fashionista, whether it be her beautiful jewelry, her fancy hats, her so put together outfits or that beautiful smile and that striking red lipstick.

Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 2026 from 11 AM until 2 PM at St. Johns Evangelical Church, 200 E. Carol St. Kenton, OH. Funeral service will begin at 2 PM with Pastor Debra Chapman and Gary Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery.
