
Elmer Dean Adkins, known as Dean, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing facility in Upper Sandusky. Born on August 13, 1941, in West Virginia to Elmo and Mary Alma (Douglas) Adkins
Dean dedicated 42 years of his career to Eaton in Marion, where he became known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Dean was a storyteller by nature, always possessing a captivating tale to share, which endeared him to friends and family alike.
He enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation, frequently found on the softball field, golf course, or engaging in camping and fishing adventures. These pastimes were more than mere hobbies; they were expressions of his zest for life and his love for the outdoors.
Dean is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Adkins, who stood by his side through the years. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his sisters Wanda Sikes and Helen Bower, his brother Benny Adkins, his daughter Tammy Furniss, and his sons Brian Adkins, Bill Clinger, and David Clinger. Dean’s legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren: Brandy Adkins, Jason Adkins, Tony Adkins, Jeremy Adkins, Rachel, Magan, Bill, Cortney, Chad, David, Tye, Danny, and Shane, as well as his five great-grandchildren: Jason, Chevea, Cora, Hayley, and Chevy.
He joins in eternal peace his parents, Elmo and Mary Alma (Douglas) Adkins, and his siblings: Sue Sullenberger, Sis Oldaker, Tennie Jeffers, and Brenda Tucker, along with his brother Mack Adkins, John Adkins, and his daughter Deb Murphy.
