Erna Claire Douglas, 88 of Dunkirk passed away at Blanchard Valley Hospital on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was born on December 7, 1934 in Forest, Ohio to the late Carl C. and Juanita Mae (Stanley) Simpson. She married Robert L. Douglas on December 10, 1955 and he survives. Also surviving are Dennis C. (Donna C.) Douglas of Clearwater, FL and Phyllis (Brian) Spencer of Dunkirk; grandchildren, Terrah, Joshua, Brittany, Matthew, Andrew, Austin and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Bret, Marcia, Valentina, Noah, Miley, Kayden, Zoey, Ethan, Carson, Brooklynn, Makenzie, Hayden, Peyton, Lillian and Ashtyn; sister, Danna S. (Don F., deceased) Dennis. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Vilma Wells, a daughter, Roberta C. Poe. She was a 1952 graduate of Forest High School and worked as a secretary for Ohio Oil Company for 10 years. She was an accomplished pianist and organist who played for several churches, weddings, funerals and other events. She was currently playing for Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and Erna enjoyed traveling and cruises. Funeral services will be held at 11am at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington on Thursday, June 22, 2023 with Pastor Joe Oman officiating. Burial will follow in Dunkirk Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Wednesday, June 21, 2023 and for one hour prior to the service (10-11am) Thursday at the funeral home.
