Obituary for Franklin L. “Frank” Roof

Franklin L. “Frank” Roof, 84 of Kenton passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Lima, Ohio on April 18, 1941 to Vinton H. and Clarissa Mabel (Howbert) Roof.

Frank married the love of his life, Patty Nelson and they enjoyed 50+ years together before her passing on May 10, 2016. Frank is survived by his son, Franklin Lee (Melva Jeanne) Roof of Ridgeway, five grandchildren; Hannah Roof, Benjamin Roof, Kirsten Roof, Lyndon (Sara) Roof, Kiara (Grayson Ford) Roof and two great-grandchildren; Waylon and Rosetta.

He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Richard Kile of Stuart, FL and sisters-in-law, Sharon (Chuck Truesdale) Roof of Waynesfield and Ruth Roof of Venice, FL.

Frank was preceded in death by his son, Toby Roof, brothers; Richard (Sally) Roof, Tom Roof, Ray Roof and a sister, Helen Jean Kile.

Frank operated Kenton Auto Wrecking along side of Patty for 43 years. He was a charter member of the Hardin County Restorers and Collectors. He had a love for antique cars and was proud of his Franklin Automobile, his other antique cars and of course, his Hunting Buggy. Frank was also a member of the ELKS Lodge #157.

Visitation for Frank will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00 -7:00 PM at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.

A funeral service will begin on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Mark Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, Allen County.
