Geraldine “Geri” Elizabeth Freeman, 84, formerly of Worthington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at VanCrest of Ada.
She was born on June 18, 1941, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Silas and Dorothy (Bradshaw) Freeman. Geraldine graduated from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina and furthered her education at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky, obtaining a degree in Laboratory Technology.
She dedicated her professional life to her work at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio and Ohio Health Systems in the Columbus, Ohio area.
For 55 cherished years, she shared a lifelong partnership with her devoted partner, Janice Stauffer of Kenton, who survives her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion for her family and numerous friends.
She is also survived by her closest cousin, Wilnette (the late Charles) Morgan and family, Sylvia Casey (George) and family, Ramona Clapp (Walter), Carol Gasque (the late Lee) and family, numerous family and cousins in Ohio, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Mississippi and Virginia, along with extended members in Greensboro, North Carolina. Geraldine also enjoyed her extended family through Janice, that included the late Warren and Audrey Stauffer, Jack (deceased) and Shirley Stauffer, Gary (the late Kay) Stauffer, the late Joyce Stauffer and Ethel Drake, Jolene (Kevin) Born and family, Chris (the late Wesley) Davis and family, Gina (Ryan) Rogers and family, Eric (Deborah) Stauffer, Ryan Stauffer and Tina Howe and family.
A quiet and humble soul, Geraldine possessed a vibrant love for fashion and was always impeccably dressed. She showcased the latest styles, from her clothing to her jewelry and accessories, and had a notable and vast collection of hats that she enjoyed wearing for every occasion.
Her faith was central to her life, and she was an active member of Bethel AME Church in Greensboro, North Carolina and continued her faith at St. John AME Church in Worthington, Ohio. She often reflected on her favorite scripture, Psalm 86:12, which states, “I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify your name forever.”
Growing up in Greensboro, North Carolina, Geraldine’s life was shared with Wilnette as they bonded as sisters. Their fathers, being brothers, introduced them to the “World of Golf”. The game was enjoyed by all, and many memories were made over the years.
Beyond her dedication to work and faith, Geraldine enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing cards with Janice and making their annual trip to the Memorial Golf Tournament. She had a fondness for children and animals alike, was a devoted viewer of the Hallmark Channel, loved crafting, and enjoyed trying new recipes and foods.
Geraldine’s quiet spirit and smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
