Hobert Andrew “Andy” Perkins passed away on April 24, 2026, at his home in Kenton. He was born on September 8, 1948, in Bournville, Ohio to the late Hobert and Margaret (Smith) Perkins. Andy lived a life defined by contradictions, caring yet stubborn, private yet unforgettable, complicated yet deeply loved by those who truly knew him.
A lifelong Elvis fan, Andy didn’t just admire the king, he spent years perfecting his own amateur Elvis impersonations, complete with the unmistakable swagger and a few hip moves he insisted he “still had”. He brought a spark of humor and personality everywhere he went.
Andy served in the United States Marine Corps from November 9, 1966, to February 13, 1967. Though his time in uniform was brief, it remained a meaningful chapter of his story.
Andy married Shirley Curl on November 4, 1968, and she preceded him in death on October 1, 2016. He is also preceded in death by 2 sons, Mark A. Perkins, and William A. Perkins.
He is survived by those who loved him fiercely, his children, Andrew (Rita) Perkins, Bonita Burroughs, Shaylon (Mario) Martinez, and Francis (Melissa) Perkins. Andy also leaves behind a brother, David (Robin) Perkins, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward pieces of his stubbornness, his humor, and his unmistakable spirit.
Andy was, in many ways, a walking contradiction, tough but tender, quiet but expressive, set in his ways but full of unexpected surprises. He could frustrate you and make you laugh in the same breath, and he had a way of leaving an impression that lingered long after the conversation ended.
His family takes comfort in knowing he has finally found the peace that eluded him in life.
Funeral services for Andy will be private. Burial will take place at Fulton Cemetery. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Andy’s honor, may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
