James B. Weaver, age 82, of Bluffton, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Mennonite Memorial Home. He was born December 6, 1943, in Toledo to the late James G. and Audrey (Newman) Weaver.

Special people in his life include Linda Johnson; Marla and Ryan Pawlowicz, Reece Blaine and Macy Pawlowicz; Jacqueline Bonarrigo; Peggy Geyer; John Geyer and Brad, Connie, and Brent Johnson as well as many other family and friends.

James was a 1962 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in social science from the University of Findlay, his master’s degree in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, and later earned his Doctor of Education degree from UCLA.

James devoted more than 40 years to education and public service. He taught at St. Peter School, Our Lady of Consolation, Compton schools, and Sun Valley School in Sun Valley, California. He also served as a systems analyst, computer consultant, and researcher at UCLA hospitals and clinics, worked as a career counselor at West Los Angeles College, and later as a property manager in Santa Barbara, California.

James attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in both Sylvania and Upper Sandusky.
James enjoyed sailing, skiing at Lake Tahoe, where he retired, traveling throughout the world, dancing, and expressing himself through art.

Visitation will be at 10:00AM on Tues. June 16, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky, with a memorial service at 11:00AM.
