of Kenton
Janet (Arn) Murray, 89 of Kenton, passed away at Trustwell Living Blanchard Place in Kenton, Ohio on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born August 19th, 1935, in Kenton, Ohio at McKitrick Hospital to Walter and Thelma (Jump) Arn.
Janet married John Thomas Murray in 1958, and he preceded her in death after 64 years of marriage. She is survived by children: John “Mike” (Jane) Murray of Belle Center, Cindy Murray of Kenton, and Matt (Beth) Murray of Anna, grandchildren Jennie (Rick) Furlow of Livonia, New York; Jessica Fox of Kenton and Jayna (Zachary) Jansen of Kenton; Justin, Chase, and Brody Murray of Anna, and great-grandchildren, William and Gabrielle Furlow; Hannah, Cameron, and Lilly Fox; Nora, Lauren and Michael Jansen. Also surviving is a brother, Fred (Betty) Arn of Clyde, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and parents.
Janet graduated from Kenton High School in 1953, and from Bowling Green State University in 1957, with a BS in Education. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Janet spent 28 years serving the children of Kenton City Schools first as a 5th grade teacher, then 4th grade and finally as a kindergarten teacher.
Janet was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Church. She spent many years singing in the church choir. Janet also enjoyed golfing with her family and friends and spending time in her garden. Most of all Janet was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Many memories were made with her grandchildren playing school or cards, building with blocks or playing with Football Guys, or baking cookies.
The family would like to thank the staff of Blanchard Place for the wonderful care they provided during the last few years of Janet’s life.
A private family service will be held at Grove Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Murray Scholarship Fund at Kenton High School, 200 Harding Ave., Kenton, OH 43326.
