Obituary for Onnie “June” Umbaugh

Onnie “June” Umbaugh, 94, of Kenton passed away June 9, 2026 with her loved ones by her side. She was born in Kenton, Ohio on March 29, 1932 to Ora and Onnie (Newman) Cosart and was raised by Adam Freshcorn. On September 3, 1955 she married Jack L Umbaugh and he proceeded her in death.

June is survived by son; John (Glenda) Umbaugh, daughter; Judy Haines. Grandchildren; Melissa (Josh) Madison, Trea Umbaugh, Carmen Umbaugh, Aaron Umbaugh, Drew (Mandy) Umbaugh, Theresa Bareswilt, Kelly (Shane) Crase, Kristi (Patrick) Kronenberg. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

Proceeding June in death are her parents, step dad, son; Carl, brothers; Harold, Richard, Clyde and Ora Cosart, sister; Edna Vermillion.

June was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dola. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother whose presence was the heart of her family. With a gentle spirit and a beautiful soul, she had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued and loved. Her kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. She enjoyed making noodles for her family, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved peanut M&M’s and taking trips to the Dairy Queen.

Visitation will be Friday, June 12th from 3 to 7pm with funeral service being Saturday, June 13th at 10am at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview McDonald Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice.
