Obituary for Peggy Ann (Lament) Alexander

Peggy Ann (Lament) Alexander, age 78, passed away Wednesday, October, 7,  2026, at OSU Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born to Margaret Althea (Myers) Lament and Dwight Kenneth Lament in Kenton on September 27, 1948.

She is survived by her daughter Amy (Chris) Pratt and granddaughters; Brianna Lucas, Haley (Zachary Hawkins) Lucas, Amanda Maholick, Dezarae Leath, Crystal Pratt and Veronica Pratt and a great granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth to be born in January, 2027.

Peggy married Brian Eugene Alexander on March 22, 1975. They celebrated 43 years of marriage. Brian passed away on August 6, 2018. She, Brian and Amy lived in Reva, VA. After Brian’s passing, Peggy came back to Ohio to live at Indian Lake, where she met Joe Thompson, a very special person to her, whom she dearly loved.

Peggy is also survived by her best friend, Joe Thompson, sisters-in-law, Ercle Lament and Deb Mabrey, Dianne Alexander, Anita Alexander, Marie Alexander, Lisa Alexander, brothers-in-law, Melvin Hinkle and Eugene Alexander, sisters, Sylvia Susan McQuown, Donna (Jeffery) Morrison, Marilyn (Richard) Houchins, Janet (Patrick) Evers, Elsie (David) Campbell and Marlene (William) Mundy a brother Elzie Mabrey Jr. and a 101 year old aunt, Helen Klopfenstein.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret Mabrey and Dwight Lament, her stepfather, Elzie Mabrey Sr., sisters, Nancy Hinkle and Delores June Danzig, brothers, Kenneth Lament, Robert Faurot, Ira Mabrey, Jim Mabrey, brothers-in-law, Allen Danzig, John Moore and Rod McQuown, sister-in-law, Sue Mabrey and Irene Mabrey, nephews, Brian King and Robert Burton and her father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Mary Alexander.

Peggy was a 1967 graduate at Kenton High School. She began her working career at the Midway Restaurant while in high school, then moved on to being a US Government employee and finished with a 25 year stint working for Walmart, retiring from the Wapakoneta location.

Peggy knew not a stranger, making friends everywhere she went. She once in a while got turned around with her directions when traveling. Her laughter could be heard above all others. She loved to bake and cook, read, swim and go boating and camping. Her daughter and granddaughter were her world and was ever so proud of them. She was a tough lady that overcame a lot of diversity.

The family would like to thank their sister Marilyn Houchins, Mary Rutan Hospital, Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Hospital and OSU Wexner Hospital for their excellent care of Peggy.

Price-McElroy Funeral Home has been entrusted with Peggy’s wish of a visitation for family and friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Interment of Peggy’s ashes will follow at a later date at the Fairview McDonald Cemetery with a Celebration of Life after at the AMVETS POST 39, Lakeview, Ohio.

Memorial donations in Peggy’s honor may be made to a Catholic Church of your choice.
