Gene passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton. He was born on May 20, 1941, in Kenton to the late Richard and Marcella (Garman) Wedertz. He married Marian Schmidt and they later divorced. He then married Barbara McDorman and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are his loving companion, Tammie Warren, a daughter, Denese (Scott) McClure, sons, Dave (Cyndi R.) Wedertz, Chris (Heather) Wedertz, step-daughter, Shelly Miller, step-son, Jeff (Becky) Morrison, a sister, Mary Lou McNeal. 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 5 nieces and nephews.

Gene graduated from Kenton High School in 1959. He served in the Ohio National Guard and he was a past member of the Hardin County Shrine Club. He was also a member of the unofficial breakfast club, a group of guys that met up for breakfast most mornings.

Gene’s whole life centered around his dairy farm. He loved his Jersey cattle, especially one in particular that was named Fancy. Gene showed Jersey Cattle all over the region and when he got older, judged cattle.

Gene always looked forward to the spring plant, fall harvest and the Hardin County Fair. He enjoyed going to the fair for the food and the livestock shows.
